If you’re listening to the new Daft Punk song, you’re not listening to the new song, unless you are. It’s very confusing. Last night, a supposed radio edit of the Pharrell Williams-assisted “Get Lucky,” the first single from Random Access Memories, made its way around the Internet, but according to MTV, “[We] attempted to verify the leak with a spokesperson for Daft Punk’s label, Columbia Records, but received a firm ‘no comment,’ though, a second source confirmed it was, in fact, the genuine radio edit of the single.” In other words, no one knows if they’re listening to the real thing, and won’t until tomorrow, when “Get Lucky” is OFFICIALLY released at 12:01 a.m. EST.
Clearly, people really, really, really love Daft Punk and really, really, really, really want new Daft Punk. There’s still half a day left to go before you can get the latter, but we can show you examples of the former, with 15 of the Internet’s best tributes to Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. Digital love, indeed.
