Noel Gallagher Tells Jay Z’s Tidal ‘Minions’ To ‘Write A Decent Chorus For A F*cking Start’

Add another celebrity to the list of Tidal haters.

Former Oasis member Noel Gallagher unloaded on Jay Z’s music streaming service, describing those who support it as “Jay Z’s minions.”

Tidal is backed by some of the biggest names in music, including Kanye West, Coldplay, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Usher, and Daft Punk, among others. We all remember the bizarre press conference they all attended to launch the service. According to Gallagher, these artists should be more focused on making great music to “save the industry” rather than revamping the distribution process.

“Do these people think they’re the f*ckin’ Avengers? They’re going to save the f*ckin’ [world]… I was speaking to Chris [Martin] the day after, and I said, “Are you after a Nobel Peace Prize? Is that what you’re after?” Gallagher told Rolling Stone. They were like, “We’re going to f*ckin’ save the music business.” And I’m just sitting there, thinking [imitates smoking weed] you might want to write a decent chorus for a f*ckin’ start. Never mind f*ckin’ royalties and the ‘power of music.’ Write a tune. F*ckin’ start with that.”

Well, looks like Gallagher will be missing some Christmas cards this year.

Sure, he could have expressed this thoughts in a more diplomatic manner, but do you know Noel Gallagher? And he’s got a point: The average Joe listening to Spotify or iTunes could care less if an artist is getting a fair deal. Tidal is highly unlikely to “save” the industry.

Tidal has had a rough start since its launch on March 30. If anything, one of its biggest competitors, Spotify, has only become more popular over the past month. Gallagher may be on to something after f*cking all.
